COMMUNITY MOVES
education through exploration
Community Moves is Side Street Studio Arts' education and outreach arm. Through visual and performing arts programming and education, Community Moves helps young artists develop creative problem-solving skills, find their voice through artistic expression, and build a foundation for well-rounded and responsible citizens.
With both short-term engagements and long-term partnerships with area organizations, Community Moves brings arts education to developing artists where they are. By extending beyond the physical footprint of Side Street Studio Arts, we provide accessible and meaningful creative experiences that foster artistic growth in diverse communities. Since 2012, Community Moves has worked with up to 500 young artists per school year.
Community Moves also partners with local organizations to provide programming on location. These organizations have included the City of Elgin, the Downtown Neighborhood Association, Lords Park Zoo, The Boys and Girls Club of Elgin, and the Elgin Police Department.
