About the event
Side Street is thrilled to invite all feminists to craft with us. The Feminist Craft Circle will take place every 3rd Tuesday of the month in the LAB at 11 S. Spring Street - across the alley from the Gallery.
Sitting together to work on manual crafts has a long history, and for periods was looked down upon as a space for unimportant women’s work. In the past decades, feminist artists have skillfully reappropriated these practices as possible places of empowerment, resistance and protest.
Come and join us for this circle and help it unfold with your input. You’re welcome to bring your own project to work on, to start a new one or even to just be present. Come prepared to share skills, help troubleshoot projects and receive assistance when needed.
Beginner embroidery and crochet kits will be available for purchase. If you would like to work with another technique, reach out to us and we may be able to provide materials or at least help you figure out what to look for. RSVP and reserve beginner kits by sending an email to advocacy@sidestreetstudioarts.org
