Jazz Theater with Makoto Yamaguchi

This event is for anyone who enjoys drama, improv, dance and exploring different theatre arts! 

This workshop is designed to learn, create, and present the new physical form of theatre called, “Jazz Theatre.”  This theatre form uses only physical and vocal expressions created only by live performers without the use of any sound instruments or stage lights—pure physical expressions by the actors.  It is called “Jazz Theatre” because a jazz theatre piece is pre-structured similar to code progression in music and the performers improvise the entire piece according to the progression.  It sounds difficult or complicated, but it is actually very simple and that the most people understand the concept in the matter of a few minutes. It is fun, creative, strange, and crazy at times. This can be performed by people of any age. The participants are encouraged to wear clothes that are easy to move around. ​
