Side Street Studio Arts fosters arts education opportunities in a variety of mediums led by professional artist-educators. Our free and low-cost programs uplift creative voices through accessible and innovative programming and provide a safe space for students of all ages and experience levels to work and play.

SEWING OUR STORIES | WEDNESDAYS | 5:30-7PM | $135 | 14+ 

Feb 5, 12, 19, 26 Mar, 5,12, 2025 - (all supplies included)

"Sewing Your Stories" is a colorful and playful approach to learning how to applique and embroider fabrics for self expression and adornment. "Sewing Your Stories" es un enfoque colorido y divertido para aprender a aplicar y bordar telas para la autoexpresión y adorno. 14+

ACRYLIC PAINTING | THURSDAYS | 5:30-7PM | $135 | 14+ 

Feb 6, 13, 20, 27 & Mar 6,13, 2025 - (6 week class / all supplies included)

Teacher: John French

 

Introduction to techniques and concepts in the practice in the medium of acrylic painting with landscapes, still life, and portraits. The class includes exercises in blending, color theory, light/shadow effects. demonstrations, individual support, and plenty of time to paint.

INTRO TO DRAWING | TUESDAYS | 5:30-7PM | $135 | 14+ 

Mar 4, 11, 18, 25, April 1, & 8 - (6 week class / all supplies included) 

Teacher: John French

 

This is a beginner’s introduction to Drawing. This class builds a basic foundation for drawing, where we will explore the tools, materials, and techniques, of drawing and illustration. This class covers how to look at a subject, hand-eye coordination, shading, blending, and using design to maximize these effects.

COPTIC STITCH BOOKBINDING| SATURDAYS | 2 - 3:30PM | $10* | 14+

Mar 15 & 22, 2025 - (2 part class / all supplies included)

Teacher: Ivette De Santiago

 

In this bookbinding class we will take a hands on approach. Students will learn about the

coptic stitch and will use that knowledge to create their own sketchbook.

DIGITAL PHOTOGRAPHY | THURSDAYS | 5:30-7PM | $135 |14+

April 8, 15, 22, 29, May 6, & May13, 2025 (6 week class / all supplies included)

Teacher: Nick Mataragas

The world can amaze when seen through a camera lens. Join instructor, Nick Mataragas in exploring the different ways we can harness that amazement as photographers. In Photography for Adults you will learn how to set up your digital camera for success, how to use light to your advantage, and how to focus and amplify your vision through simple editing. Bringing your own camera is encouraged, but not required.
